In Disk Password Protection 5.6, the boot protection modules are signed with the Microsoft UEFI CA 2023 certificate, Windows on ARM is supported, and the boot password is now checked with PBKDF2.
Support for modern UEFI systems
The UEFI boot protection modules have been updated and are now signed with the Microsoft UEFI CA 2023 certificate. New computers require this signature on EFI modules when Secure Boot is on, and boot protection now works on them too.
Windows on ARM
The program runs on 64-bit versions of Windows for ARM processors, for example on Snapdragon laptops.
System requirements
Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported. The minimum Windows version is Windows 7 SP1.
Stronger protection against password guessing
The boot password is now checked with the PBKDF2 algorithm. Each check takes much more computation, so guessing the password by brute force has become much harder.
High-DPI displays
The interface is sharper and renders correctly on high-DPI displays.
Fixes
- The boot protection module on UEFI systems is now compatible with BitLocker.
- Boot protection no longer turns off after certain Windows updates are installed.
